Bogs and peatlands of Lithuania (2018 evalution by LFN)
Description
The dataset of bogs and peatlands of Lithuania was created in 2018 as a result of the "LIFE Peat Restore - Reduction of CO2 emissions by restoring degraded peatlands in Northern European Lowland" project. The dataset was created by Nature Heritage Fund under contract with The Lithuanian Fund for Nature. The most detailed spatial data of Lithuanian bogs, peatlands and their condition of 2017-2018 was used to create this dataset. In this evaluation peatlands are considered as land areas where thickness of peat layer is not less than 0.5 m while bogs are considered as not drained peatlands. The dataset provides borders of bogs and peatland areas, data of peat layer type, peat mines and mining areas, drained peatland areas and their condition, wooded land, other types of land use, protected areas and natural habitats of EU importance which are located on peatlands or bogs.
