Customs – National Foreign Trade Statistics – January 2021
Description
In France, according to a tradition that dates back more than two centuries, it is the General Directorate of
Customs and indirect duties that establish the trade balance. It traces only the exchanges
goods and not services.
Information on trade in goods is collected on the basis of exchange declarations
goods (DEB) for trade with the other 27 Member States and customs declarations
(SAD) for trade with other countries (named third countries).
Each month, the statistical collection covers exchanges in the reference month (month of
publication)
**The presentation by product**
External trade statistics are presented according to different product classifications.
It will be recalled that external trade statistics only track trade in
goods and not services.
NC8: The 8-digit Combined Nomenclature (CN8), used for reporting obligations
operators with customs, allows a detailed knowledge of the foreign trade of the
France: it has just under 10000 headings.
_This nomenclature is not available to present regional statistics and_
_departments for reasons of confidentiality._
