National foreign trade statistics

Description

Since 1825, French statistics on foreign trade in goods have been compiled by customs. External trade statistics are statistics governed by legal provisions: * **European**: Regulation (EC) No 223/2009 of 11 March 2009 (revised version of 2015) on European statistics, Regulation (EU) 2019/2152 of 27 November 2019 on European business statistics, repealing ten legal acts in the field of business statistics known as the EBS Regulation, and Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2020/1197 of 30 July 2020 laying down technical specifications and implementing rules pursuant to Regulation (EU) 2019/2152. ***national**: Act No. 51-711 of 7 June 1951 on Obligation, Coordination and Secrecy in Statistics. The national statistical authority responsible for producing these statistics is the Department of Foreign Trade Statistics and Studies (DSECE) of the Directorate-General for Customs and Indirect Taxation (DGDDI). The DSECE is a ministerial statistical service as defined in Article 1 by the French law on statistics (revised Law 51-711).
