List of maternity wards in France since 2000

Description

The list of maternity hospitals in France lists all maternity wards in France as at 31 December 2000 and from 2008 to 2022, their address, number of beds and activity (number of deliveries). An establishment is included in the list for a given year if it has at least one bed and one type (1, 2a, 2b or 3) on 31 December of that year and if it has at least one childbirth in the year. An institution is referred to as type 1 if it has an obstetrics service, type 2a if it also has a neonatology service on the same site as the obstetrics service, type 2b if it also has a neonatal intensive care service and type 3 if it has, on the same site as the obstetrics service, the three previous services (obstetrics, neonatal neonatology and intensive care) and a neonatal resuscitation service. This file should not be used to count the number of deliveries in a given year. Indeed, maternity wards that close during a year and do not have a bed on December 31 of that year are not included. These data are produced from the statistical databases of the [Annual Health Facilities Statistics (AHS)](https://drees.solidarites-sante.gouv.fr/sources-outils-et-enquetes/00-la-statistique-annuelle-des-etablissements-sae) restated by DREES. This DREES survey describes every year the activity of public and private health facilities (number of stays and days of hospitalisation) and their associated factors of production (beds, places, equipment, staff).
