Localised Potential Accessibility (LPA)

Description

The Localised Potential Accessibility Indicator (LPA) has been developed to measure spatial adequacy between the supply and demand of primary care at a fine geographical level. It is a local indicator, available at the level of each municipality, which takes into account the supply and demand from the surrounding municipalities. Calculated at the municipal level, the APL highlights disparities in the provision of care that a standard indicator of density, calculated on much larger grids, would tend to mask. It also takes into account the level of activity of practising professionals as well as the age structure of the population of each municipality that influences care needs. Access the shiny app:
