Social protection accounts

Description

The Social Protection Accounts provide, each year, an estimate of social protection expenditure and receipts and their evolution, covering all social protection schemes and risks: social insurance and social intervention schemes by public authorities, including local and regional authorities; social intervention schemes of non-profit institutions serving households; extra-legal employer schemes and mutual benefit, supplementary pension and pension schemes. These accounts are used for the compilation of social protection accounts in the European system of integrated social protection statistics, supervised by Eurostat. In this way, international comparisons can be made.
