List of Remarkable Heritage Sites (SPR)

This dataset includes a list of municipalities where at least one Remarkable Heritage Site (SPR) is located.

The classification of remarkable heritage sites aims to protect and enhance the architectural, urban and landscape heritage of our territories. Remarkable heritage sites are easements of public utility, i.e. instituted by a public authority for the purpose of general interest. The remarkable heritage sites replace the old protective devices: safeguarded areas, architectural, urban and landscape heritage protection zones (ZPPAUP) and architectural and heritage development areas (AVAP). There are now more than 940 remarkable heritage sites.

Point of attention on the list. The majority case is that of an SPR entirely located in a single municipality. However, there are two other cases:
- The territory of a municipality may include several SPRs: the separate SPR numbers located in the same municipality will be different, and there will be as many lines for the municipality as distinct SPRs in its territory;
- an SPR may extend over the territory of several municipalities: each of the municipalities where this SPR is located will be identified by a clean line but the “SPR number” will be identical in the different lines; the column “Number of SPRs” will indicate the value “1” for only one of these municipalities in order to easily count the total number of separate SPRs.

The issues of remarkable heritage sites are reflected in a management plan that can take two forms:
- a safeguard and enhancement plan (urban planning document)
- a plan for the valorisation of architecture and heritage (servitude of public utility)
Each of them is a legibility factor for project promoters and residents.
