The denaturalised of Vichy
Description
By the law of 22 July 1940, the French State decided to review all naturalisations granted since 1927. This measure resulted in the withdrawal of the French nationality of more than 15000 people on political and racial grounds. The proceedings were set aside by the order of 24 May 1944.
The “Denat” database was created as a research tool at the National Archives. It contained the information relating to the investigation of the files of each individual, with a link to his record on the database of the Holocaust Memorial. This guidance and research tool was complemented, through a partnership between the National Archives, the US Holocaust Memorial Museum and the Holocaust Memorial, by digitising all records of naturalisation of individuals denaturalised by Vichy.
Recordings of people born after 1910 were pseudonymised.
