Label “European Heritage”
Description
This label is awarded by the European Union to sites that bear witness to the European heritage and chosen for their symbolic value. Its aim is to help European citizens better understand the history of Europe and the construction of the Union as well as that of their common cultural heritage.
Currently 48 European sites have been labeled including 5 French: Cluny (Bourgogne), the house of Robert Schuman (Lorraine), the European quarter of Strasbourg (Alsace), the former Natzweiler concentration camp and its ancillary camps (France-Germany), the place of Mémoire in Chambon-sur-Lignon (Haute-Loire).
