Photographs concerning the First World War (18,982 text and image records).
These photographs were taken for propaganda and documentation purposes by the French services-in particular the Photographic and Cinematographic Section of the Armed Forces from 1917-or by the Allied services (Portugal, Italy). They show the war effort, the damage caused by the fighting to historical monuments, the evacuation of works of art, the situation at the back of the front (life of civilians, internment camps, prisoners, hospitals or soldiers -theatre to the armies) in France in Morocco, Cameroon (former German colonies) but also the Italian front, Romanian, or the Dardanelles, in Greece ...
