Architecture documentation
Description
The Archidoc database (Architecture Documentation) is composed of records from various document sources: bibliographics, printed sources, journals, manuscript or iconographic sources dealing with architecture and dating from the 19th and 20th centuries. It consists of approximately 75000 notices containing each of the localised information (region, department, canton, commune, place-dit, address) on an architectural work, a furniture object or a site and their actors (architects, project owners, prime contractors, etc.).
This work, undertaken to help research on French architectural heritage, was put online in 1997 and carried out under the direction of Bernard Toulier for the General Inventory of Cultural Heritage (Directorate of Architecture and Heritage, Ministry of Culture).
The fields in the base are as follows: REF: Reference; ETUD: Name of periodical or stripped source; REGION: Region; Country: Countries; TPD: Department; COM: Municipality; INSEE: INSEE code; LOCATION: Location accuracy or location; AREA: Canton or study area; ADRS: Address; EDI: Name of the building; PEDI: Current title of the building; OBJ: Name of the object; POBJ: Current title of the object; HOW: Commentary or summary of the content of the reference; ISBD2: Complete bibliographical references; MCART2: Artist name and function; LOCA2: Physical location of the commented document; PHOT2: Physical location of the commented illustration; DATI: Date of intervention of the author on the work (creation of the building); MERIMEE: Reference in the Merimee base; PALISSY: Reference in the Palissy database; TYPE: Type of stripping.
