Historical plans on the territory of Cannes.
The Directorate of Municipal Archives of the City of Cannes has identified and preserved a number of general plans and old cadastral plans on the communal territory. From 1814 to 1948, the stages of urban evolution were thus identified and documented in very different ways, since the starting point was the Napoleonic cadastre of 1814, carried out for fiscal reasons, and the point of arrival of the plans of the Ministry of Reconstruction carried out just after the upheavals of the 2nd World War.
The measurement processes used in the field have been variable according to the epoch, from the indicator plane to the modern topographic survey, and thus vary the accuracy of the visualised data. These precious plans have sometimes been restored because they have deteriorated over time due to the fragility of the supports and the use of various techniques ranging from watercolor to engraving.
