Pathologies: number of patients by pathology, gender, age group and territory (department, region)
Description
This dataset is one of the sources of data visualisations available on the website [Data pathologies](https://data.ameli.fr/pages/data-pathologies/).
### Updated on 10/07/2023: update of data from 2015 to 2021
The data history has been updated:
* data from **2015 to 2020 have been updated**
* data for **2021 are now available**
This new version of the data (July 2023) replaces the previous version (dating from June 2022).
### General information:
The data provides information on the number of patients covered by all health insurance schemes.They are available by pathology, chronic treatment or episode of care, sex, age class, region and department.
Pathologies, chronic treatments and episodes of care are grouped into the following categories:
* cardio-neurovascular diseases;
* vascular risk treatments (excluding cardiovascular diseases); * diabetes;
* cancers;
* psychiatric pathologies;
* psychotropic treatment (excluding psychiatric diseases); * neurological and degenerative diseases;
* chronic respiratory diseases;
* inflammatory or rare diseases or human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) or AIDS;
* chronic terminal renal impairment (CTRD);
* liver or pancreatic diseases;
* other long-term conditions (ALD 31 and 32);
* stays in full hospitalisation to take care of Covid-19 (from 2020);
* maternity;
* chronic treatments with analgesics, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and corticosteroids;
* punctual hospital stays.
The number of people who do not have any of the conditions, chronic treatments or episodes of care mentioned above is also presented.
The corresponding prevalence is also presented in the data.
It corresponds to the proportion of patients treated, at any given time, for a disease (or chronic treatment or episode of care) in a population (in %).
The population used here is that of mapping pathologies and spending on sickness insurance.
### What is Health Insurance’s Pathology and Expenditure Mapping Population?
The mapping population lists all beneficiaries of compulsory health insurance, regardless of their membership scheme:
* having received at least one benefit in the year (medical care, nursing or physiotherapy, medicine, biology, transport, etc.);
* and/or having stayed at least once in a public or private health facility during the year (stays in medicine, surgery, obstetrics, psychiatry, follow-up and rehabilitation care, outpatient procedures and consultations or in-home hospitalisation).
In 2021, it brings together 68.7 million beneficiaries from all health insurance schemes, who have used reimbursed care.
This population is used by the Caisse nationale de l’assurance Maladie (Cnam) to carry out numerous studies and produce data on the pathologies and expenditure of sickness insurance.
For more information, see the [Method](https://observatoirepathologies-cnam.opendatasoft.com/pages/methode/) page of this site.
### Statistical confidentiality:
Out of respect for statistical confidentiality (Law of 7 June 1951) and in order to make it impossible to identify individuals directly or indirectly, no information on numbers of patients is provided when the number of patients in care is less than 11.
The value of the indicator is then indicated by the variable “NS” (not significant) in the dataset and set to “Not significant” in the graphical representations.
### Data update:
The data proposed for download in the “Export” tab is updated every year (data from the whole of France from 2015 to 2021).
