Carbon dioxide stock

Description

The ‘Carbon Dioxide Stock’ cartography reflects the quantification of total carbon in terms of atmospheric CO2 equivalent, stored in the vegetation of forest and agricultural ecosystems in the Valencian Community.The estimation of the total CO2 stock fixed in the vegetation on forest systems is the result of integrating the information obtained from data provided by the Forest Map of Spain and National Forest Inventory 3, with the data provided by the SIOSE cartography (2015). This results in a total value of CO2 set in tonnes for each polygon in the mapping, which divided by the area of that polygon will result in an average amount of CO2 equivalent set per hectare. For agricultural ecosystems, in each SIOSE crop cover, the average of the accumulated carbon stock in the vegetation of each crop per hectare is taken, weighted by its relative importance.
