Register of Basic Materials of the Valencian Community

Description

Base materials of seed source type that are registered in the Register of Base Materials of the Valencian Community for the production of forest reproductive material of the identified category are included. The information concerning the basic material is intended for seed collectors and nurseries producing forest reproductive material of the species regulated by Royal Decree 289/2003, in order to facilitate its traceability. The cartography provides the information of the authorized zones for the collection of fruits and seeds. This information is updated periodically, including or excluding the basic materials that have caused high or low, respectively, in the regional registry. This information is also very useful for technicians involved in reforestation and restoration, since they can proceed "a priori" to the choice of the most suitable provenances and materials, according to the geographical situation and ecological characteristics of the intervention area and taking into account criteria of adaptability and conservation of genetic resources, with the promotion of the use of local provenance.
