Description
Fastening is a term for the anchoring made by rail against sleepers. The fortification serves several purposes: Transfer forces from the rail to the sleeper. Secure the track gauge so that the rail does not move. Reduce noise by dampening rail vibrations against the sleeper. Prevent lateral bending (sun curves). Insulate the rail against the sleeper (ground) if the rail is part of a track circuit Facilitate rail installation. There are different types of fastenings that are used in different types of sleepers, underlays or in different places in the track, for example in gears. The data product has stretch distribution and connects to the railway network with reference to the immediately preceding node and the immediately preceding kilometre board with distances in metres to both the start and end position of the section in the direction of the track link.
