Description
The product contains information on the strength and characteristics of the peat layers, e.g. peat composition, degree of humification and wetness. The information is based on observations from drillings in peatlands. To a large extent, the material consists of information digitised from SGU's peat archive. This archive contains a large amount of information about the characteristics and distribution of Swedish peat. The material consists of results from inventories, reports, maps, diaries and publications from the last hundred years. Since the material has been collected for a long time, different nomenclatures have been used. In addition, the positioning accuracy varies depending on the map substrate used for the collection. On SGU's website there is further information about the extensive analog material available in the peat archive. The product also includes data collected during the 21st century.
