PF.Dams

Description

A dam where a dam failure can lead to consequences of importance from a societal point of view or risk human life shall have a dam safety class. Chapter 11, Sections 24-26 of the Environmental Code describes the conditions for a dam to be classified in a dam safety class. It is the supervisory authority, normally the county administrative board, which, on the basis of impact assessments, decides on the dam safety class in accordance with the Environmental Code for dams within the county’s geographical area. Svenska kraftnät is the supervisory authority in matters concerning dam safety under Chapter 11 of the Environmental Code and supports the work with impact assessments and dam safety classification through guidelines and information.
