Environmental monitoring of ionising radiation: whole-body measurement of radioactive substances in humans
Description
The Swedish Radiation Safety Authority has carried out whole-body measurements of cesium-137 in various reference groups of the Swedish population since the late 1950s. In the current programme, reference groups in Stockholm and Umeå are measured annually, while groups of reindeer-owning Sami and hunters in the Gävle area are measured approximately every five years. Data from these measurements can be made available on request from the Swedish Radiation Safety Authority. The map shows the geographical location of the measuring sites, the people included in the reference groups live in the surrounding region.
