Line category (Subdivision) explains the maximum permissible axle load ‘STAX’ (from 16 to 32.5 tonnes) that may run on a certain section of the State-owned network at different axle spacings of the railway vehicles, depending on the structure of the track body and the track geometry on the site/section.
