Description
The product contains information on erosion conditions along the sea shores of southern Sweden. Based on detailed mapping of beaches and the seabed around the coast, erosion conditions and sensitivity have been assessed and calculated using two different methods. Methodology and results are reported in Malmberg et al. (2014 and 2016). A division has been made into different beach types according to the geology, topography and sediment dynamics of the beaches. The different beach types are characterised by different erosion conditions depending on whether the beaches are mainly characterised by deposits, erosion or are mainly in balance and how quickly erosion occurs. In addition, a forecast is presented for what erosion conditions can be expected in the future at a sea level rise of about 1 m. The sensitivity of the beaches to erosion is shown with an estimated erosion index, based on an analysis of soil types on beaches and the seabed, slope, erosion processes and sediment budget on beaches and the seabed, as well as wind and wave exposure (Malmberg et al. 2016). In connection with the field collection, hard erosion protection has been inventoried and sections with active erosion have been mapped.
