Description
In order to be able to work with different strategies for operation and maintenance in the form of delivery quality targets for different parts of the railway network in the National Plan 2010-2021, the entire state-owned railway network has been divided into track types. The division aims to achieve the greatest possible socio-economic benefit in the choice of operation and maintenance measures. It is based on: Traffic – traffic volumes, consistent quality, importance of traffic for society International transport – consistent quality across borders Use – use of transport systems by different groups: • Rehabilitation capacity – how quickly traffic can be restored to normal • Requirements for regularity, e.g. for public transport, or freight transport that is part of a warehouse • Degraded operations – the value of the consequences arising from disruptions to traffic The type of runway is based on the division of runway parts, the same track always has the same type of runway. This means that all types of tracks, main tracks and sidings, within the same bandel get the same track type.
