Description

In the track network there are single tracks, double tracks and multiple tracks. At operational sites there are several parallel tracks for passenger exchange, loading and unloading, meetings, shunting and parking of rail vehicles. Inside operational and line locations with main tracks and sidings, the tracks are referred to as having a track number that can be either numeric or alphanumeric. On the line between operational sites only main tracks exist. They are called UNE tracks, with E for single tracks, U (tracks) and N (tracks) for double tracks. Uppspår (U;usp) is the left track on double track for trains with even train numbers, i.e. usually trains with the goal northerly than the starting station. The track is mainly used for up-(=north)bound traffic. Down track (N;nsp) is the left track on double track for trains with odd train numbers, i.e. usually trains with the target southerly than the starting station. The downslope is mainly used for the ‘down (south)bound traffic. Single track (E;esp) is a section with only one main track on the line between two adjacent operational sites. Capacity depends on how tightly the train meeting stations are located and how fast the trains can run and how the signalling system works. Multiple tracks. In the case of multiple tracks, each track gets its own denomination using U or N and a sequential number. At really large operational sites, e.g. Stockholm Central, an additional letter may be needed, e.g. U1S. . The data product has stretch distribution and connects to the railway network with reference from node to node with distance in meters to both the start and end position of the route in the direction of the track link. Related Items • The product should be comprehensive on the Track Head/Side division type with Normal Head Track value. The task is really only relevant on one line, but in order to function as comprehensive in the database, registration must also take place on the normal main tracks at the interchanges.
