Description
Rock quality is a surface-covering product where bedrock surfaces have been divided into different rock quality classes. The classification has mainly been made for road purposes, but for some areas there is also classification made for railway and concrete purposes. The main purpose of the classification is to facilitate an evaluation of the best use of different rocks, such as aggregates for road, rail and concrete. In connection with the municipal master plan, the rock quality map should be able to provide a geological basis for future land use and thus, for example, facilitate the transition from gravel to crushed rock production. The Rock Quality Map is a thematic map that complements SGU's bedrock maps in scale 1:50 000 and 1:250 000.
