Geophysical flight measurements, magnetic fields (overview)
Description
During aerial measurements of the Earth's magnetic field, very small variations in the strength of the magnetic field are recorded. This provides, among other things, information on the depth and surface distribution of different rocks and rock paths, as well as their ironing and fall directions. Faults and their relative movements can in some cases also be identified in the magnetic patterns. Geophysical flight measurements, magnetic fields (overall) contain measured variations in the total magnetic field after subtraction of the geomagnetic reference field (DGRF 1965.0). The data are then interpolated to 200 x 200 m cell size. The measurements were made from low-altitude aircraft from 1960 onwards.
