Description
A vertical curve on the network shall be provided between track elements with different gradients in order to create a smooth transition. The minimum length of the vertical curve is 20 m with some exceptions in connection with switches and crossings. Vertical curve is included as a trace element in the description of the trace geometry and is part of the profile geometry, which also includes slope. The track geometry represents the projected geometry and refers to the track centre. The data product contains the radius of the vertical curve with characters (+ for convex and - for concave), length and the method used to capture the data. Since geometry has the attribute Origin = G (Measured Geodetic), the data is coordinate-determined. The data product then has a high quality and can be used for all types of applications. The data product has stretch distribution and connects to the rail network with reference to the immediately preceding node and the immediately preceding kilometre board with distances in metres to both the start and end positions of the vertical curve (=key points) in the direction of the track link.
