Environmental monitoring of ionising radiation: radioactive substances in mixed diets
Description
Since 2001, the Swedish Radiation Safety Authority has sampled mixed diets, in the form of a pooled sample of all food served to a patient in a hospital for 24 hours. In the current program, the diet of 3 hospital kitchens is sampled twice a year, which is measured for caesium-137 and strontium-90. Mixed diets are also reported to the EU in accordance with the Euratom Treaty. Data from 2001 onwards for these measurements are available on request from the Swedish Radiation Safety Authority. The map shows the geographical location of the sampling stations (hospitals).
