Description
According to the Railways Act, anyone wishing to operate and manage infrastructure must have a permit from the Swedish Transport Agency. The following tasks may be performed by an infrastructure manager: • managing and operating the infrastructure • allocating capacity • charging • providing services • drawing up a network statement • determining who is entitled to operate or organise passenger services • managing traffic. The Railways Act provides for the possibility of allowing someone else to perform certain tasks. The latter then also needs authorisation for infrastructure management, but this is limited to the specific task only. The subdivision type shall show who manages what on the Swedish railway network. There are about 500 infrastructure managers in Sweden. The Swedish Transport Administration is the infrastructure manager with almost the entire holding (89.4%). Previously, the subdivision type was called Trace Owner. The data product has stretch distribution and connects to the railway network with reference to the immediately preceding node and the immediately preceding kilometre board with distances in metres to both the start and end position on the route in the direction of the rail link.
