NVDB The Swedish road network
Description
The data product is described as a product but actually the network consists of different components, reference links, nodes and reference link parts without their own characteristics in the form of phenomena. The network ‘The Swedish road network’ as such has no knowledge of the characteristics associated with it. The purpose of the data product is to represent Sweden's road network. The network should be able to be used as a reference network to link events, properties and objects (phenomena) to the road network, which, among other things, contributes to the sharing of road-related data between activities. The geometry and topology of the product together with the phenomena enable, for example, overall planning or route planning after processing (see the computer product ‘Vowned for transport planning’). The reference road network (the Swedish road network) shall describe how the road extends through the landscape and how the roads are connected, i.e. its geometry and topology. The reference road network consists of roads, streets and other paths or places commonly used for the circulation of motor vehicles, as well as roads intended for cycling and moped traffic. Roads intended for pedestrian traffic may be included. However, it does not include tractor roads, snowmobile roads or temporary roads such as ice roads. Both the existing and the historical road network shall be shown, but also future road networks may be included. It is not possible to download the network without connection to another category or phenomenon separately. In the menu on Lastkajen.se, when downloading the phenomenon ‘Road traffic network’, the reference road network can be included by activating the function ‘Include reference network’ before downloading. This provides the clearest representation of the road network as a whole, broken down by mode of transport.
