Building Register of Buildings
Description
The Building Register, BeBR, is a national register with information about the built cultural heritage. Here you can find everything from log cabins and old industrial environments to modern urban buildings. There are about 80000 searchable entries in the register, of which about 13000 buildings are protected as monuments and churches. Updates and new registrations are made continuously. The information presented in the Building Register is taken from inventories, documentation, archives and literature. The information is produced and registered by regional museums, the Church of Sweden, county administrative boards, municipalities, universities and colleges in collaboration with the National Heritage Board.
The term facility has long been used in cultural heritage conservation in various contexts, including building inventories. In this context, a facility denotes a demarcated area with one or more buildings. The buildings have a common functional connection and together form, for example, a farm, a school or a residential building with a garage. The area, which together with the building(s) forms a facility, usually corresponds to the surface of the property concerned.
In an inventory work, field work has mostly been done by property with a description of the individual buildings and of the plot or farm environment surrounding the buildings. In several cases, a situation plan with markings for the building(s) and for e.g. vegetation, aisles, fences or walls has been developed.
