Description
Toponymy of the provinces, parishes, municipalities and places of Galicia, in accordance with the opinions of the Toponymy Commission and with the rules dictated by the Xunta de Galicia. The official toponymy was developed on the basis of the following normative principles: Law 3/1983 of 15 June 1983 on linguistic standardisation (DOG 14.07.1983). Article 10 provides: Decree 174/1998 of 5 June 1998 amending Decree 43/1984 of 23 March 1984 regulating the functions and composition of the Commission on Toponymy (DOG of 22 June 1998) Decree 132/1984 of 6 September 1984 laying down the procedure for fixing or recovering the toponymy of Galicia (DOG of 21 September 1984) The official toponymy is laid down in the following decrees:
