Maritime areas of sovereignty or jurisdiction

Description

The product “Maritime Spaces of Sovereignty or Jurisdiction” contains the surfacic rights of the maritime areas of sovereignty or jurisdiction of France in the world. These are 2D surface objects that split into four categories: \- the territorial sea (from baselines up to 12 nautical miles from these baselines or delimitations with neighbouring States); the contiguous zone (12 nautical miles up to 24 nautical miles from baselines or delimitations with neighbouring States); the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) (12 nautical miles up to 200 nautical miles from baselines or delimitations with neighbouring States); the continental shelf beyond 200 nautical miles (200 nautical miles from baselines to the limits recommended by the Commission of Continental Plateau Limits (CLPC) or delimitations with neighbouring States). Inland waters, which are an area of sovereignty located below the baselines, are not represented in the product “Maritime Areas of Sovereignty or Jurisdiction of France”. The product “Maritime Spaces of Sovereignty or Jurisdiction of France” is not enforceable. Only the product “Maritime Delimitations”, viewable and searchable on data.shom.fr (Maritime Limits category) and downloadable on the national maritime boundary portal (https://limitesmaritimes.gouv.fr), is enforceable.
