The product "Underwater pipes and cables" contains a description of the underwater pipes and cables brought to Shom's attention on the French areas of responsibility. These are 2D linear objects of the seabed which fall into two categories: • Submarine cables: these are cables laid on the seabed in which either electricity or information (telecommunications) circulates. They represent the vast majority of objects (more than 90%); • Emissaries and underwater pipes: they are pipes allowing the discharge, sampling or circulation of fluids.
