MNT bathymetric facade of the Island of La Passion – Clipperton
Description
The facade bathymetric MNT of the Island of La Passion – Clipperton and its surroundings at a resolution of 100 m was realised by valuing bathymetric and topographic data acquired between 2012 and 2015 by the Shom and the PASSION program team. The facade grid at 100 m stretches over an extensive right-of-way around the Island of La Passion – Clipperton, Mont Queiros, Mount Cermeno, and nearby high seas.
The Island of La Passion – Clipperton, located in the East Pacific Ocean, is an isolated uninhabited atoll more than 5 000 km from Tahiti in French Polynesia and more than 1 000 km from the Mexican coast. The island is the highlight, and the only one emerged, of Clipperton’s backbone. It is the only coral atoll in the eastern Pacific located in the northern hemisphere, at 109° west longitude and 10° north latitude.
