Description

In general, a potentially karst ensemble is a geological ensemble in which carbonate rocks are dominant, where superficial flows are rare outside the main valleys (regional flows) and present, locally at least, karst forms (closed depressions, dry valleys) as well as sources with large flows in the vicinity of the main valleys. For information, the ‘Karstic zone’ layer is a national mapping of these groups, which is nevertheless limited to the so-called active karsts, that is to say, where water is potentially mobilisable. It thus integrates several data sources: - the main hydrogeological entities are characterised, as a whole, by a type of ‘karst’ environment; - complementary entities, such as localized karst system or impluvium, results of different localized studies (regional inventories of beetles, tracings, etc.) It makes it possible in particular to highlight the sectors where active karsts are at the outcrop of those, supposed, which are deep beneath other hydrogeological entities that are not necessarily karst.
