Karst areas - Metropolis

Description

In general, a potentially karst ensemble is a geological ensemble in which carbonate rocks are dominant, where superficial flows are rare outside the main valleys (regional flows) and present, locally at least, karst forms (closed depressions, dry valleys) as well as sources with large flows in the vicinity of the main valleys.

For information, the ‘Karstic zone’ layer is a national mapping of these groups, which is nevertheless limited to the so-called active karsts, that is to say, where water is potentially mobilisable. It thus integrates several data sources:
les entités hydrogéologiques principales étant caractérisées, dans leur globalité, par un type de milieu « karstique » ;
des entités complémentaires, de type système karstique localisé ou impluvium, résultats de différentes études localisées (inventaires régionaux des bétoires, traçages, etc…)

It makes it possible in particular to highlight the sectors where active karsts are at the outcrop of those, supposed, which are deep beneath other hydrogeological entities that are not necessarily karst.
