Elementary Hydrographic Sections - Reunion 2012 - BD Carthage
Description
An elementary hydrographic section is a related portion of rivers, streams or canals, homogeneous for the relationships involved, and for the attributes it carries. It corresponds to the axis of the bed of a river, stream or canal.
These are:
- on national territory:
- all main axes, including in the foreshore area up to the zero NGF rating and in the marsh areas. The "culs de sac", whatever their length (at least 20 meters), the completeness is ensured for cul-de-sacs with a length of more than one kilometer or belonging to a watercourse with a length of more than one kilometer.
- in addition to the main axis, the axes of the secondary arms or which delimit an island with an area of more than 10 hectares when a watercourse is subdivided into several.
- abroad:
- all hydrographic sections which ensure the continuity, upstream or downstream, of the network of the national territory;
- all sections of navigable canals;
- important stretches of watercourses.
Continuity of the network is ensured when crossing water bodies, marsh areas, drainage, agglomerations.
An elementary hydrographic section is represented by an arc. On the other hand, an arc may correspond to several elementary sections when there is an overlay of watercourses. The elements of the hydrographic network are divided into portions with the same attributes. Changing the value of an attribute will result in the creation of a section only if the new value remains the same over a length of at least 20 metres; otherwise, the previous section is extended.
The basic hydrographic section is characterised by a set of attributes managed by the IGN: Condition, flow direction, width, nature, navigability, gauge, position in relation to the ground.
An elementary hydrographic section is not to be confused with the hydrographic section, a concept introduced by Circular No 91-50.
The geometry is close to the BDTopo IGN that was used for its realization.The BDCarthage Réunion is maintained by the DEAL Réunion.The BD Carthage Réunion is a version validated by the SIE but not by the IGN and that therefore problems of incompatibility with IGN referentiels can occur (and that an update will "officialize" the BD Carthage with the IGN validation).
