Orthophotography of Corsica (1948-1951-1962)

Description

An orthophotograph is an aerial photo that has undergone orthorectification. This is a procedure that will allow, by following steps, to distort a digital image to make it conform, at any point, to a cartographic projection system. The result will be a digital image that can be directly integrated into a GIS. A work on old aerial photographs of the IGN led to the construction of an orthophotography on the whole territory of Corsica and its coastline. This work was carried out by IGN on the basis of three aerial campaigns: 1948_F4347-4351_P_25000, 1951_MISSIONCORSE_P_25000 and 1962_F4253-4256_P_25000. The orthophotography of Corsica is a database made up of mosaics of black and white orthophotography. It is only available in visualization and for the agents of the Ministry in charge of the environment.
