Environmental sensitivity index of the French coastline
Description
The French Coastal Environmental Sensitivity Index has been approached as an approximation of the "heritage value of the environment". The method used to determine this index consisted in counting over a given sector the number of overlapping environmental protection zones, on the basis that the more a site is going to be covered by different zonings, the more it responds to a number of important issues and therefore the higher its heritage value and its vulnerability to oil pollution.
This layer represents the environmental sensitivity index of the French coastline divided into 5 index classes ranging from low to very sensitive: 1- insensitive, 2, 3-4, 5-6 and greater than or equal to 7 - very sensitive.
