ERRUISSOL - Risk of diffuse water erosion

Description

The mapping of areas at risk of diffuse water erosion has been established on the basis of the Universal Soil Loss Equation (USLE): A=R.K.LS.C.P
These maps represent the critical slope length for 2 fixed soil loss thresholds (5 and 10t/ha.an) according to 3 soil occupations. (cultivation of weeds; non-scarred cultivation; meadows/forests). This makes us 6 possible combinations so 6 maps of areas at risk of diffuse water erosion.

The data ‘ERRUISSOL – Diffuse water erosion risk’ is different from the data ‘Soil sensitivity to erosion’.
Although both maps are based on the Universal Ground Loss Equation, they use different versions of the equation and input data generated at different dates.
For the data ‘ERRUISSOL – Diffuse water erosion risk’, the classification is based on critical slope lengths to achieve a certain soil loss (5 and 10 t/ha.year) according to 3 types of land cover. The data is a decision-making tool to define the slope length of a field according to its most sensitive rotation head (weed or cereals) and an ‘acceptable’ erosion rate.
For the Soil Erosion Sensitivity data, the classification is based on the soil loss (t/ha.year) calculated by the model by considering all agricultural areas as ‘bare’ land and according to the size of the parcels of the year used for the calculation.’
