Elements at risk of flooding (in force) - Flood Directive 2007/60/EC - Series
Description
This series of data layers gathers the elements exposed to flood risks for the 4 scenarios of probability of flood return period (T025, T050, T100, T Extreme).
The elements exposed to flood risks, also known as risk receptors, are all persons, assets, systems or other elements present in danger zones that are thus subject to potential losses. The danger zone is represented here by the maximum right-of-way of the flood zone for a given scenario.
The data layers only deal with the number of inhabitants in the maximum right-of-way of floodplains by overflow determined according to the 4 scenarios of probability of return period of floods (T025, T050, T100, T Extreme).
The number of inhabitants at risk of flooding shall be calculated within the maximum right-of-way of floodplains per overflow for each scenario.
Therefore, the number of inhabitants data corresponds to the sum of the inhabitants referenced by STABEL (reference year 2018) within this right-of-way. The result is presented in 5 different classes:
- from 0 to 10 inhabitants;
- from 10 to 150 inhabitants;
- from 150 to 500 inhabitants;
- from 500 to 1000 inhabitants;
- from 1000 to 5000 inhabitants.
The information on the number of inhabitants is located at the centroid level of the maximum right-of-way of the flood zone. Symbolically, the data is represented in the form of one or more "men" (from 1 to 5) in the class of the number of inhabitants concerned.
This data is basic information for the development of flood risk maps in Wallonia.
