INSPIRE - Mining concessions in Wallonia (BE)
Description
This series of data layers gathers the boundaries of mining concessions and the areas (of the Mons couchant) considered to be stripped.
The limits of mining concessions, mapped and computerised between 1999 and 2001 on the basis of the royal decrees granting them and the plans annexed thereto, include, for the entire Walloon territory, the location of all concessions, all substances maintained or granted since 1793 (current or final status, at the date of withdrawal), as well as the official name, the nature of the deposit exploited and the administrative status of the concessions.
The two underground storage tanks for natural gas in Péronne and Anderlues, formed by the mining works of three concessions partially forfeited for this purpose, are represented independently.
Finally, the areas of the Mons Basin where, according to the Administration's archives, coal mining has been particularly intense are mapped as stripped areas.
