Biogeographical regions: Geographical regions (according to the Nordic Council of Ministers 1994)
Description
Sweden is divided into different natural geographical regions. The regionalisation is based on both biological and geological factors in the landscape. The classification also takes into account topography, i.e. its altitude conditions and brokenness. The regional division was carried out under the auspices of the Nordic Council of Ministers (1984). The Nordic Region comprises 76 natural geography regions. Of these, 29 concern Sweden.
