Continuous Nature Type Mapping of Protected Areas (KNAS) is a nationally homogeneous nature type classification of protected areas. The KNAS mapping covers nature reserves, national parks, nature conservation areas and Natura 2000 sites. It is used as a basis for strategies and practical nature conservation work, as well as for national and international reporting. KNAS is a satellite image-based classification of forest types that is combined with various map data (road map, terrain map, Swedish land cover data (SMD), Meadow and pasture inventory (TUVA).
