Potential restored pasture
Description
By utilising existing geodata, data has been created with existing and potentially recoverable pastures in Sweden.
There is also a national gross layer for existing and potential grasslands and so also layers for existing claimed land in Sweden, as well as today’s land cover on previously farmed arable land.
With the help of historical data from the Farm Register showing the change in agriculture during the period 1951-1995, some thematic change images have been produced. The map layers shall provide a knowledge base to support a dialogue with farmers in order to contribute to economically viable agricultural holdings focusing on livestock production on natural pastures. They should be used as a concrete basis for support for active measures by both the County Administrative Board and farmers, such as extended grazing traps, improved land consolidation, to identify recyclable or potentially grubbable land, etc. Advice on how different financial support/remuneration can be combined to improve the economy for the user is an important complement.
Another area of use is that it can be a basis for locating potential pastures to be exploited in crisis situations due to prolonged drought such as summer 2018.
