Proportion of pupils in year 9 who have answered “Yes, in the last 30 days” or “Yes, in the last 12 months” to at least one of the questions “Have you used prescription sleeping drugs or tranquilisers without medical prescription?”, “Have you used prescription pain medicines without medical prescription?” or “Have you used central prescription drugs without medical prescription?” in the CAN national school examination. The survey is conducted annually by a stratified sample based on counties of 350 schools in grade 9 and then randomly one class from each school. The value for 2020 thus refers to surveys carried out in 2019 and 2020. This is in order to get a sufficient basis. From 2022 onwards, the survey will be conducted every two years.
