Model-calculated values for the proportion of pupils who have attained the knowledge requirements have been developed by the National Agency for Education in a regression model in which municipalities are compared with other municipalities, taking into account the parents’ weighted educational level, the proportion of boys, the proportion of pupils born abroad, and the share of pupils born in Sweden with both parents born abroad. For municipal level, the data refer only to pupils in municipal schools, while at unit level it has also been included with other schools in the municipality. As of 2013, the values are only reported at school level and the accounting of foreign backgrounds has been replaced by the proportion of newly immigrated pupils. As a newly immigrant student, students who have come to Sweden for the first time in the last four years are counted.
