Description
Total emissions of nitrogen oxides (NOx) from transport within the geographical area, divided by inhabitants. Transportation includes passenger cars, trucks, railways, mopeds/motorcycles, buses, domestic air traffic, domestic civil shipping, military transport but also emissions from wear from tyres, brakes, road surface and evaporation from road vehicles. Emissions per inhabitant should not be interpreted as consumption-based emissions. Sometimes road traffic on the core road network and individual industrial activities can lead to high emissions locally.
