Description
Number of ankle orthoses prescribed (prescribing is an action to provide a person with aids). Orthosis is a collective name for assistive devices whose area of use is external support on a part of the body used to completely or partially replace an absent or deficient joint, muscle and skeletal function. Ankle orthoses are used to stabilise the ankle or limit mobility and vary in both appearance and material. Some orthoses are also made for use in shoes and therefore shoes must be used when walking. These are called Ankel-Fot Ortheses (AFO) ISO code: 061206.
