Description
The key figure shows the proportion of medical assessments carried out in primary care within three days of the decision to take care. The indicator presents medical assessments made in connection with visits, remote visits, home visits and is a way to measure access to care and treatment. A person who contacts primary care for a new or worsening health problem is entitled to a medical assessment within three days. The assessment shall be made by qualified staff in primary care. Patients who have been offered a visit but who themselves have chosen to wait longer, for example to get to a particular caregiver, are not included in the calculation. The tasks of primary care may vary between regions, which may affect the reported results. Waiting times can reflect working methods that are adapted to the previous care guarantee. Changing working methods takes time, an important aspect to consider when analysing and interpreting the results. The indicator is based on the data reported monthly to the national waiting time database of the Swedish Municipalities and Regions. Data is available according to gender breakdown.
